Welcome to the official blog of Datateq. “From The Digital Pen” aims to be a blog about the world of the digital pen and digital paper with a particular emphasis on forms and form management utilising digital pen & paper technology.

The digital pen & paper technology was developed by a Swedish company called Anoto and is an amazing system allowing a special pen (we call it a Data Pen) to write on ordinary paper printed with a special dot pattern that allows the pen to plot it’s location on the paper.

This ability to plot location means that all the hand written strokes of the pen are recorded and converted into data. This data can then be sent to a computer to reproduce the hand writting in it’s entirety. Additionally, hand writing recognition (HWR) software can be applied to it so that the data can then be extracted in a format that makes it useable to other software programs like back of house job management or accounting systems.

We will explore the possibilities of the Data Pen over the course of the coming months. We will also explain systems that we have designed and how they are working with particular clients.
